MUMBAI: Angered at Shahrukh Khan's reported comments on their party leader Amar Singh at a recent film awards function, Samajwadi Party workers as well as members from other organisations on Monday staged protests outside the actor's residence here.

Several activists, carrying banners and shouting slogans, gathered outside Khan's bungalow 'Mannat' in suburban Bandra on Monday afternoon.

Samajwadi Party, however, denied it had anything to do with the protest.

"The protests are not be organised by Samajwadi Party. They are being organised by some North Indian organisations and some of our workers are pariticipating as members of those organisations. We do not have any hand in this," party MP Abu Azmi said.

Khan had in the awards ceremony also clarified that the comments were meant in 'pure jest' and he did not mean to hurt anyone's feelings.
