Chief minister Prithviraj Chavan, plans to organise a meeting in Mumbai before January 15 to take cognisance of some of the most important problems faced by Pune, said Congress MLC Mohan Joshi.

Joshi said that Chavan had assured him that he would discuss all the issues in the meeting.

Joshi had sent a letter to Chavan on Sunday requesting him to organise a meeting of people’s representatives from the Congress to address important issues related to the city.
Joshi in his letter had highlighted seven important issues that faced the city.

Some of the important issues include construction of a ring road in the city, establishment of a Pune Metropolitan Regional Development Authority (PMRDA), approval of a development plan (DP) of merged villages and approval of a metro
project.

Joshi said in the letter that an announcement was made to appoint a committee under the chairmanship of the chief secretary to solve traffic problems in the city and that the issue
needed to be discussed.

He said that the issue of approving 2.5 FSI (floor space index), which determines permissible construction in proportion to land, for redevelopment of properties developed by Maharashtra Housing and Area Development Authority (MHADA) in the city was pending.

He said the issue of setting up a new airport in the city needed to be discussed and some concrete steps were needed to push the project.

He complained that the state government had not taken action to solve these problems due to which the local representatives had to face public ire.
