Mumbai: "Motherhood teaches an important virtue, compassion. It's all in the hands of a mother to plant the seed with goodwill and love," said Vimla Patil, veteran writer, at
the launch of a book "Can moms take a chill pill?"at Oxford Bookstore on
Monday.
This book provides valuable insight for those who want to embark on the journey called 'motherhood'.
Based on real life experiences ofeight mothers, the book is authored by eight first-time authors, Vineeta Barjatya (wife of filmmaker Sooraj Barjatiya), Sushila Nahar, Asha Mehta, Chayya Sehgal, Yashwanti Modi, Smita Agarwal, Sonia Mehta and Jyoti Ghalla.
"When a woman is pregnant, she is pregnant all her life. She just can't stop worrying till the end. We belong to a country where motherhood has a special aura to bring out Matrutva," said Patil.
"Nowadays mothers have a more difficult role to play. This book talks about how babies can hear in amother's womb, just like Abhimanyu did. This book tells us to love, let go and let the higher power take on," said Dr RK Anand from Jaslok Hospital.
"It deals with problems that ails every Indian mother," said Tom Alter, actor and theatre artist.
