Praj Foundation on Monday conferred its Green awards and scholarships on deserving students of MES Rani Laxmibai Girls’ Military School, located in Mulshi taluka.
The awards were presented by Parimal Chaudhari, managing trustee of Praj Foundation, in the presence of school principal Shraddha Walimbe and Praj Foundation officials.
This year, five green scholarships worth Rs1 lakh and nine green awards were given to the students who contributed actively towards environment conservation activities while achieving good academic performance.
Praj Foundation has been actively associated with the school since 2008 and has been spreading awareness towards environment preservation which are undertaken within the premises of the school.
A lot of environment-friendly activities have been initiated in the school with the help of the students like vermicomposting, planting vegetables and medicinal plants and plantation and maintenance of one tree by each child.
The motive of these ‘green initiatives’ is to create green ambassadors for the future generation, who would spread awareness amongst their peers and families and parents to save the environment and make it a better place to live.
“Praj Foundation has started the project with this girls’ school. The amount of devotion shown by the students, the commitment of the principal and teachers towards the initiative, and the active response from the girls over the past three years has been commendable,’’ Parimal Chaudhari said.
