Popular 'paratha' joint cut to size

Chaitanya Paratha, the popular youth hangout on Fergusson College (FC) Road in Deccan, had to disrupt its operations midway on Friday, following an anti-encroachment drive by the building permission and encroachment department of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC).

The drive was carried out by the PMC to remove encroachments on the side and front margins by commercial and residential establishments on both Jungli Maharaj (JM) Road and FC Road.

According to building inspector Vitthal Ingawale, a total of 7,064 sq ft of encroachment was removed in this joint action.

“The owners of Chaitanya Parathas on their own folded up the encroachments on their side and front margin” said Ingawale.

Other than Chaitanya Parathas, similar action was taken by owners of By The Way, Sayalee Florist, Deccan Juice House, 96K and many other establishments on the FC Road.

The biggest action taken on this drive was the demolition of 2,000 sq ft area of illegal construction of CB Rahateke on FC Road.

A similar drive was undertaken by the zonal commissioner 4 in Hadapsar and 4,500 sq ft of illegal construction was
demolished there.
