Police to hold cyber safety week in Pune

The deputy commissioner of police (cyber cell), Sanjay Shinde, said that awareness programmes will be organised among school and college students on the issue during the week.

The cyber cell of the Pune police will organise Cyber Safety Week in association with Data Security Council India (DSCI) and National Association of Software & Service Companies (Nasscom).

Former President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam, will inaugurate the event at Ganesh Kala Krida Rangmanch on October 10.

The deputy commissioner of police (cyber cell), Sanjay Shinde, said that awareness programmes will be organised among school and college students on the issue during the week.

“We would also focus on various sectors such as law enforcement (police), judiciaries, IT industry, hospitality, educational institutes, banking or financial sectors and Internet & telecom service providers,” he said.

According to Shinde, 30 groups would be formed consisting of police and experts that would visit different educational institutes. These cyber squads would generate awareness about 18 areas in cyber laws and make PowerPoint presentation.
