Maharashtra chief minister Ashok Chavan today said Navy and Coast Guard would continue searching for the fishermen who went missing after the cyclone 'Phyan' crossed the state yesterday.
"Navy and Coast Guards are searching for the fishermen from the Konkan region who are missing because of the storm," he said reviewing a meeting held to asses the situation after the cyclone.
"The search for the missing boatmen would continue," he said.
Meanwhile, he said, a compensation of Rs1 lakh would be given to families of those dead due to the cyclone in the coastal areas of the state yesterday. At least four persons are feared dead.
However, Chavan, said the exact number of casualties and those injured is not immediately available.
"While the family of those dead would get Rs1 lakh, Rs50,000 would be given to the injured," he told reporters.
He directed the officers concerned to review the affected districts and the rice crop, which was destroyed due to heavy rains.
The officers have been asked to submit their reports during next cabinet meeting scheduled to be held on Thursday.
'Phyan' which bypassed Mumbai however caused massive damage to property in the districts of Ratnagiri, Raigad, Sindhudurg, Thane and Palghar.
