A peace rally was taken out in Aarmori township in Gadchiroli district today to counter the bandh call given by Naxalites, police said.
A bandh call was given by Naxals since they are observing "Martyrs Week", they said.
About 800 students from various colleges and schools of the city along with prominent citizens participated in the rally, they said.
The participants were holding banners and placards, demanding peace and stopping of Naxal violence in the tribal district.
The rally was flagged off by police officer S Mane of Aarmori police station which went around the main streets in the Naxal infested township, police added.
