Shiv Sena executive president Uddhav Thackeray has blamed NCP leader and deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar for the snapping of ties between the two parties in 2009.
Clarifying that the Sena had joined hands with the NCP for development and not for politics, he said the experiment of forging an alliance failed due to Pawar's arrogance.
Concluding the BJP-Sena-RPI joint campaign in Pune on Tuesday, Thackeray said the Pawars were busy getting sanctions for the Lavasa project while development works in Pune suffered.
"What is the use of them being in power in the state and the centre? What did they do for Pune all these years? We can show them what we did in Mumbai without the support of the state or the centre," he stated.
Ajit Pawar says he will develop Pune if voted to power, but when BJP and Shiv Sena ruled the state, major projects like the Mumbai-Pune expressway were saw light of the day. Ditto the case with the Hinjewadi IT hub.
"We did not say that we would do it only if Puneites vote us to power in the city. Why didn't they improve public transport in Pune, clean the river, sanction the development plan long ago? Why are projects stuck? Land was acquired but schemes did not materialise," he said.
He promised a hi-tech general hospital in the city and better public toilets for women, even as he stressed that women's health issues will be taken seriously.
RPI chief Ramdas Athawale came down on Maharashtra Navnirman Sena president Raj Thackeray and alleged that his 'engine' was fuelled by the Congress and the NCP.
