The mentally challenged son Sujit, 42, of the senior couple whose decomposed bodies were found in their Goregaon flat on Friday, was questioned under observation of experts. He told police officials that his mother Chandralekha Nair, 72, was in her bedroom when she died in her sleep. His father, Rajan Nair, 80, died due to shock when he saw her, he said.

Inspector Surendra Paithankar of Goregaon police station said,
“Sujit’s mother was diabetic and his father was suffering from several ailments. Hence, both of them rarely stepped outside their house. We have handed over their bodies to their relatives after the post-mortem. To know the exact cause of death, we have sent their viscera to the forensic lab in Kalina.”
