Oshiwara murder: Three suspects held

Two days after a 65-year-old was stabbed to death in his Oshiwara flat, the city crime branch on Monday detained three suspects for their alleged involvement in the murder.

Arun Tikku’s half-naked body was discovered in his bathroom on Saturday night. However, none of his family members have come forward to claim his body. Tikku’s son Anuj, who is a small-time actor, and two of his paying guests are absconding.

Investigation has revealed that Anuj was in South Mumbai on Saturday.  “He had left home at 9.30pm and his last location as per his mobile phone calls has been traced to South Mumbai,” said a police officer requesting anonymity.

According to sources, three people have been detained but the police are not revealing details.

“Anuj’s cousin, Samit Tikku, 35, who lives in Nainital, arrived in Mumbai this morning. In his statement, he claims that Anuj is mentally disturbed and was receiving treatment at a hospital in Jaipur since the past four-five years,” said senior police inspector Dilip Rupawate.

Samit added that his uncle (the deceased) was concerned about Anuj living alone in Mumbai and wanted him to shift to Delhi with him. However, Anuj was determined to work in the film industry and refused, resulting in several arguments between the father and son.

Meanwhile, the police conducted a second panchnama of Tikku’s flat but are yet to find any evidence to trace the accused.
