The Bombay high court on Friday directed that the special court conducting the 26/11 trial should examine three National Security Guard (NSG) commandos in-camera through video conference.
The division bench of justices JN Patel and Amjad Sayed ordered on Friday that the commandos shall not be questioned about the methods and techniques used by them while combating the terrorists.
The order is in congruence with the guidelines submitted by the Union government relating to the examination of NSG witnesses. The Centre had initially opposed the trial court's decision to examine three NSG commandos, who had taken part in the operations.
Additional solicitor-general Darius Khambata said that that the court has accepted the Union government's suggestion that the media shall not be allowed to report the depositions of the commandos.
26/11 court summons MEA official: The special court hearing the 26/11 trial has issued summons to a top official of the minister of external affairs (MEA) to throw light on a dossier sent by Pakistan to the Central government. The summons, returnable by November 17, was issued to Manpreet Vohra, joint secretary, MEA.
The prosecution submitted a relevant portion of the dossier to the court. The dossier stated that accused Faheem Ansari had obtained a Pakistani passport on the basis of fake identity of Hamad Hasab and forged travel documents. He had also travelled to Pakistan in November 2008.
The government has questioned an attestor, Mohammed Sadiq, who stated that the signatures and the stamp on Ansari's Pakistani passport were fake.
