A dual degree – MSc-PhD programme in Environmental Science and Engineering – will soon be started by IIT Bombay.

Virendra Sethi, head of the Centre for Environmental Science and Engineering (CESE) at IIT Bombay, said, “A large pool of talented people may not get into medicine or engineering after Std XII. And once they finish their Bachelor of Science (BSc) course, many don't know what their work options are. This dual degree programme is meant to help them.”

The programme will be introduced from July 2010 and teaching assistantship at the institute will be available for all selected students. Graduating students are expected to get job opportunities in industries, regulatory agencies, banking and commercial establishments, developmental agencies and consultancy firms.

Two other programmes to be introduced from the next academic year is a joint master's degree programme in Infrastructure Engineering and Management and a master of design programme in mobility and vehicle design.
