The Anti Narcotics Cell (ANC) of the Mumbai Police on Wednesday arrested three Nigerian nationals who had come to Borivli to deliver 400g of cocaine, said to be worth around Rs25 lakh, to a city-based drug peddler.

However, ANC officials could not nab the person who was to receive the consignment. It is suspected that he got a whiff of the trap and fled.

Acting on a tip-off, a trap was laid at the spot between 11am and 1pm. The trio reached the spot and was waiting for the recipient when ANC officials in plain clothes apprehended them and found the contraband concealed in small packets.

An ANC officer said: “The accused have been charged under several sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act. They have been remanded in police custody. We are trying to find out if the trio has been involved in supplying drugs earlier. We are also interrogating them to find out details about the person who was to receive such a huge contraband.”

The arrests are significant as they come after the rave party busted at Karjat on June 26. Police inspector Anil Jadhav, an officer from the Worli unit of the ANC, was arrested on charges of organising the party that was attended by around 250 youngsters.
