The Pune Cantonment Board (PCB), at a meeting attended by elected members and officials on Monday, decided to set up a sewage treatment plant (STP) at Bootee Street.

The Congress MLA from Cantonment constituency, Ramesh Bagwe, was also present.

“The STP would cost about Rs11 crore and the work is expected to begin next month,” said vice-president of the board, Karan Kisan Makwani.

According to Makwani, it was the long-pending demand of the Cantonment area residents. The board also approved the proposal to start 10+2 education in the PCB-affiliated Shinde School in Wanavdi from the current academic year.

“The school would start standard XI from this academic year and standard XII the next year,” he said.
