An online review committee, appointed to recommend suggestions for a ‘glitch- free’ college admission process, on Thursday met the state education minister Rajendra Darda.

Several suggestions of the committee were approved at the meeting: the FYJC online admission process will be terminated within a maximum of 25 days; admissions for bifocal subjects will take place offline, after the online admission process is over; and students will have to compulsorily give at least two junior colleges attached to schools as their preferences for admission. Also, an online admissions control committee has been formed.
Moreover, the government will soon come out with a government resolution regarding the changes made in the FYJC online admissions for 2012.

“The meeting took place between the education minister, members of the review committee, chairman of the state board, secretary of education and others. The education minister has accepted most of the suggestions put forth by the committee, and the government resolution (GR) will come out soon,” said a senior education official.

This year, the admission process will take a maximum of 25 days, so that colleges can start their academic year on time. Last year the online admission process had stretched for 90 days. The training for students, parents, teachers and heads of schools will be completed by April 30, so that they are prepared for form filling.
TA Shiware, member of the committee and principal of KPB Hinduja College, said, “We will request the students to apply for colleges cleverly. The students should apply for colleges whose cut-off is 5% more than their percentage, instead of applying randomly to colleges who have high cut-offs. This will smooth out the process.”

To ensure that colleges update info about seat availability after every list, an online monitoring panel will be formed in every ward. Retired principals and education officers will be the members of this panel.
