While junior colleges put up their first offline merit lists on Monday, most students were in despair as cut-offs soared by 2 to 3% in top city colleges.

In top colleges such as Ruparel College, Matunga, the cut-off in the offline process shot up by 2% from the final online merit list to 92.54%.

Avantika Chauksi, who wanted a seat in Ruparel College, said: “I missed it by a few points as I scored 92.52% marks.” Chauksi finally got admission in SIES College, Sion.

On the other hand, the cut-off marks in top commerce colleges remained as it was in the final online merit list.

“We received applications from very high scorers. Therefore, our cut-off did not drop from 91.27%. I am worried about students who have still not made it to any college,” said Shobhana Vasudevan, principal, Podar College, Matunga.
