Anti-corruption crusader Anna Hazare’s indefinite fast to demand the Jan Lokpal Bill has won thousands of supporters and followers on social networking sites such as Facebook and Twitter.

The community called ‘Join Anna Hazare’s Fast To Bring the Jan Lokpal Bill’ has 21,833 members already, where they have posted strong comments criticising the government.

Caricatures with witty punch lines like ‘7 Scam Maaf’ directed at Sonia Gandhi are also doing the rounds. “Are you happy winning the World Cup while you lose out to corruption?” is a question asked by a Facebook member.

In her latest update, Mukta Gaikwad, a content writer said, “I think this is the first time in our country that a major step has been taken against corruption. We, as youngsters, can contribute to it with the help of social networking sites like Facebook.”

Archana Barnwal from Mumbai also supported the cause. Sheikh Pervez Hameed from New Delhi posted that he went to Jantar Mantar, where he found people from all walks of life assembled to support Hazare.

Celebs also supported Hazare. Film actor Aamir Khan’s letter in support of Hazare written to prime minister Manmohan Singh is being widely circulated on the Internet. Khan has said that when a 72-year-old man can sacrifice his life fighting corruption, we can undoubtedly support him.
