While the defence in the sensational Neeraj Grover murder case does not seem to be satisfied despite being given a lesser punishment, the prosecution is clearly unhappy.

Chief public prosecutor Ramnath Kini said, “We are definitely going to appeal before the high court. Susairaj got off too easily and was not convicted for murder. Why did she keep Grover in the house if she knew Emile was going to come soon?”
He added that they are unhappy that Jerome was also acquitted for murder. “In our opinion, it was a case of murder.”
However, Joint Commissioner of Police Himanshu Roy was not as vocal about his reaction on the judgment. “We will be able to comment on the Maria Susairaj case only after going through the judgment. It would be inappropriate to comment at this juncture,” said Roy. While on one hand, Maria Susairaj has made up her mind to challenge her conviction in the HC, Emile Jerome seems to be waiting to hear the quantum of punishment before making any further decisions. “Right now I cannot say about appeal. Tomorrow after the sentence, we will decide,” Jerome’s lawyer Khan Abdul Wahab told DNA on Thursday.
Susairaj’s lawyer Sheikh Sharif looked unperturbed with prosecutions plans to challenge the order in the higher court. “Maria has in fact sustained injuries while trying to save Grover from being stabbed by Jerome. Moreover, there is no conspiracy or sufficient motive in her case. She is sane enough to have understood that she won’t get a break through Grover within five days of acquaintance. She was prompt in giving her confession as well,” said Sharif .
