Even as the Indian Military Academy authorities met the Uttarkhand police to review security measures in the wake of threats from Lashkar-e-Taiba, officials at the National Defence Academy (NDA), Khadakwasla, told DNA that they have been on high vigil since the 26/11 Mumbai terror attack and not owing to any ‘specific inputs’.
“It is not because of any specific inputs that our security has been beefed up. In view of the situation since last November, we have activated our quick response teams, sensitised people living in and around NDA and carried out surprise checks frequently,” an NDA official said.
A higher level of alert is expected at the NDA during the Passing out Parade of the graduating cadets which is scheduled in the last week of November in the presence of the army chief, general Deepak Kapoor.
The National Defence Academy is a premier defence training institute spread across more than 8,000 acres at Khadakwasla, Pune. It has an intake of 300 cadets every term.
deputy commissioner of police (special branch), Ravindra Sengaonkar said that he has not received any information about a terror threat to the NDA. A central intelligence officer too said that there were no specific inputs onthis front.
