Swabhimaan Sanghathana, a non-political organisation led by Nitesh Rane, son of the Maharashtra revenue minister, Narayan Rao Rane, has warned travel agencies against fleecing people during the festive rush.
Nitesh warned that if the travel agencies don't implement his directives by tomorrow, Swabhimaan activists will not allow these buses to go out of Mumbai.
"Considering the arrival of festival Ganesh Chaturthi, tour and travel agencies have been charging the locals travelling to Konkan, Bangalore, Malwan, double the amount of the ticket. Bus tickets that normally cost Rs300-400 have been increased to Rs800," he said.
To ensure that people travelling to Konkan do not get cheated by the travel agencies, Nitesh issued a warning letter to Mumbai Travel Trade Association and also tour and travel agencies across Mumbai.
The warning letter mentions the concern about double amount charged to commuters travelling during the festive season to Konan.
