The Bombay high court has observed that the Mumbai police should more sympathetic towards investors who have lost lakhs and arrest the accused who are on the run as soon as possible.

The bench expressed its displeasure over the police’s inaction while investigating the City Limouzine Private Limited, cheating case.

The court has directed the police to state the steps that have been taken to trace the accused by next week.

The division bench said, “We are not happy with the police’s explanation. We refuse to believe that you (police) cannot arrest the accused.”

Public prosecutor Pandurang Pol informed the court that out of 13 accused - Masood Jamdar - is in jail, four are untraceable, statements of four others have been recorded and made witnesses in the case while the remaining four were arrested and released on bail last year.

“The four accused who were released on bail are also now absconding. Why have you (police) not moved the lower court for cancellation of bail? The accused just disappeared and police did not do anything,” said the bench.

Pol then assured the court that step would be taken and application would be filed by the police seeking cancellation of their bails. Following which the court directed the police to submit before it on the next date of hearing the bail orders of the four accused.

According to the petition filed by investors, they were duped by the directors of the company  City Limouzine Private Limited, since August 2009.
