A city charitable trust, Abhinav Bharat, has moved the Bombay high court seeking that the charity commissioner be asked to direct a Pune trust, Abhinav Bharat, to change its name. The Pune trust’s name figured in the 2008 Malegaon bomb blasts.

A court was hearing the Mumbai trust’s petition which stated that it registered its name on January 2002 with the charity commissioner and is involved in charity-related activities. In February 2007, the Pune trust also registered itself under the same name.

The petition states that the Pune trust was alleged to have been involved in terror activities and the state ATS arrested several of its members, including Sadhvi Pragya Singh Thakur and Lt Col Prasad Purohit. The judges have issued notice to the commissioner and adjourned the matter to June 7.
