India will be hosting the celebrations for this year’s World Environment Day (WED) on June 5. The theme for this year’s celebration is ‘Forests: Nature at your service’.To mark this historic event, Bombay Natural History Society (BNHS), in collaboration with Ministry of Environment and Forests (MoEF) and United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), has organised a 3-day long special exhibition from June 2 to June 4.

The themes included in the exhibition are urban biodiversity, air, water and noise pollution, green zones of Mumbai, extinct wildlife of Mumbai, citizens Initiatives, mangroves and death of Mumbai’s seashore. The exhibition will be organised at Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus (CST) and Churchgate railway stations.

The interesting feature of the event will be ‘online pledging.’ “The exhibition allows Mumbaikars to learn about different aspects of an eco-friendly lifestyle, which is the need of the hour. The visitors to the exhibition can pledge online to change their lifestyle for a greener tomorrow,” said BNHS official.

The exhibition will be open for all from 9am to 8pm, and even though the information presented would be in English, the instructors would be present to explain the information in Marathi and Hindi.
