Mumbai Congress chief Kripashankar Singh has slapped a legal notice on Shiv Sena chief and editor of Sena mouthpiece Saamana for publishing defamatory articles against him for the last few days. Singh has also threatened Thackeray with a civil suit to claim compensation of Rs10 crore.

Saamana has been publishing a series of articles against Singh disclosing the details of his movable and immovable property, and alleged irregularities committed by him. In the notice, the lawyer representing Singh has stated that the matter published in the mouthpiece for the last few days was false, frivolous and defamatory.

It has also been stated that the newspaper did not seek any information with regard to the pendency of the petition in the high court about the property.

The notice further stated that the news reports were published with the intention of gaining political mileage. It has said that apart from Thackeray, executive editor of the paper, Sanjay Raut and publisher, Subhash Desai will also be sued for damages and defamation in the criminal court.
