In a fresh blame game over MT Pavit, the Mumbai police said they were not at fault over ship’s drifting into the Juhu beach. They have blamed the security agencies for not informing them about the ship, even though they had information about the ship a month ago.

The Mumbai police have reportedly communicated this to the higher state administration.

To prove their point, the police have downloaded the contents of the website www.seaguardian.in and are in the process of forwarding it to the authorities.

According to the website, Pavit was found floundering in the Arabian Sea after a power failure in the last week of June.
The ship’s 13 crew members were rescued and MT Pavit was declared sunk.

The police claim that if the Indian Coast Guards and the Navy were aware about it then, the alert should have been sounded. However, no such alert was given to them, the police sources said.

“If the ship has been declared sunk, then there would have been no need to raise an alert stating that it will venture on the coast,” said a Coast Guard spokesperson.
