A day after a seven-year-old boy drowned in the Andheri Sports Complex swimming pool, the civic body has set up a two-member inquiry committee to investigate the case and find out the reason behind the death. Mayor Shraddha Jadhav called an urgent meeting at Mayor’s Bungalow along with the senior civic officials.
In the meeting Jadhav ordered a probe of the incident.
The committee will submit their report in one week to ascertain if there has been any negligence from the side of the management, who run the complex. “If negligence is proved then appropriate action will be taken against the guilty,” said Jadhav.
The committee includes the zonal deputy municipal commissioner (DMC) Kiran Acharekar, and Chandrashekhar Rokde (DMC in charge of swimming pools). The committee will submit their reports to Ashish Kumar Singh, additional municipal commissioner. “The committee has been set up to fix responsibility and the conclusions will help as ensure that the incident is not repeated in future,” informed Singh.
