The frenzy to be a witness to the Saturday mega-final between India and Sri Lanka has left a few egos bruised with city mayor Shraddha Jadhav contemplating to stay away from the final over distribution of complimentary passes.

Mayor Shraddha Jadhav said the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) leaders, including herself, were not given the VVIP passes so that they can enjoy the final from a vantage VVIP Stand and not from the Garware Pavilion end.

"All the VIP dignitaries are given the MCA Pavilion and the BMC leaders including myself are given Garware stand tickets. It will be an insult to the mayor's post to not be seated with the President. They should have shown due respect and followed the protocol while awarding the complimentary passes to us," Jadhav said.

The mayor, who was given 24 complimentary passes for Garware Pavilion, said "Alike President of India who is the first citizen of the country, the Mayor too is the first citizen of the city."

Jadhav is mulling over to dash a missive to Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) and also return the tickets as well.

When contacted, MCA joint secretary Lalchand Rajput said, "I don't want to comment anything on this." Mumbai mayor miffed over complimentary passes for World Cup final
