Mumbai man drowns at Khandala resort

An employee of a Mumbai-based info-tech company drowned in the swimming pool of a resort in Khandala on Saturday.
The incident took place at Hotel Dukes Retreat at 7.30 pm on Saturday.

The deceased, Jaiprakash Shankaran Nayar (31), a resident of Kandivali, worked with Vikroli-based NetMagic Solutions as an IT manager.

A case in this regard was registered by Atul Ashok Revnekar, a resident of Dahisar.

According to the Lonavla police, Nayar, along with his colleagues had come to Khandala on May 6 to attend a business conference at the hotel.

On Saturday around 7 pm, Nayar along with four others went swimming in the resort’s pool. Later, the resort’s lifeguards asked them to come out of the pool, but Nayar had gone towards the deep end. Both the lifeguards jumped into the pool and pulled him out with the help of other employees. Eye-witnesses claimed Nayar was struggling to breathe.

“Nayar was taken to a private hospital for initial treatment. He died while being moved to Sanjeevan Hosiptal,” the police said. The post-mortem report has confirmed Nayar’s death due to drowning.
