Mumbai gears up for Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar homage

On Monday, thousands of people will visit Chaitya Bhoomi at Shivaji Park, Dadar to pay homage to Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar on his 54th death anniversary (Mahaparinirvan Din).

Keeping the heavy traffic around Shivaji Park under consideration, motorists are advised to use Senapati Bapat Marg, NM Joshi Marg and Dr BA Road to avoid delays. To ensure smooth flow of traffic, the traffic police will impose certain restrictions from 8pm on December 5 till December 7.

Traffic coming from Western Express Highway and proceeding towards south Mumbai via PT flyover bridge, can move towards Kalanagar junction, Dharavi T junction and via Sion Station.

An alternative route is from 60ft Road Dharavi via Kumbharwada and Sion Hospital to BA Road.
North-bound vehicular traffic coming from Colaba and CST may use P D’mello Road, Barister Nath Pai Marg, Zakeria Bunder Road, RAK Marg upto Matunga’s Arora bridge and turn along Dr BA Road, and further on via Sion Hospital Junction.

An alternative is to turn left at Gafarkhan Junction on Dr Annie Besant Road and head for the sea link.
Central Railway has decided to run seven suburban special trains between Thane/Kurla — Dadar and Vashi/Mankhurd — Dadar on December 6.

BEST will run 47 additional bus services over December 5 and December 6 from Dadar. Beginning from 8pm on December 5, bus routes 165, 241, 354 and 357 will have 5 additional buses.

On December 6 bus routes 1, 25 limited, 27, 53, 92 limited, 93 limited, 165, 241, 305, 354, 357, 476 limited, 520 limited and 521 limited will receive extra 47 buses 6am onwards. Daily bus passes will be sold from the western end of the Dadar railway station and Shivaji Park, too.
