Private hospitals and practitioners don’t inform us about the number of people seeking treatment for dengue and about the subsequent deaths, if any, which is mandatory as per the MMC Act, the civic body has claimed.

It has sought a report on these statistics from Lilavati hospital, where veteran filmmaker Yash Chopra died of dengue on Sunday.
The BMC said it plans to start tracking dengue cases at the ward level through health officials from Tuesday and seek information from general practitioners to find out which spots need to be treated.
