During a recent visit to China, a delegation of officials from the University of Mumbai and city colleges signed MoUs with three Chinese universities (Tinajin University, Tianjin Univeristy of Technology and Nankai University) for collaborations in various study areas, including joint research.
Dr Rajan Welukar, MU vice-chancellor, said, “Various student exchange programmes in every stream will be organised on both sides. PhD guides from Chinese varsities will be recognised at University of Mumbai and vice-versa. This will allow students to do research under the joint guidance of professors from both countries.”
Welukar added that the focus will be on multidisciplinary courses which are an integral part of the Chinese education system. The varsity may also soon set up a Centre for Confucian Studies.
“All this will enable both the varsity and India to have a global presence in the field of education,” said Welukar.
