MSEDCL, PMC trade charges over water cut

The civic body had asked the power utility not to restore power supply till repairs of the transformer had been conducted.

Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) said that the power supply to New Cantonment Water Works (NCW) of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) was disrupted due to the failure of a transformer in the NCW. The civic body had asked the power utility not to restore power supply till repairs of the transformer had been conducted.

The PMC had informed mediapersons on Friday that water supply in areas of Vadgaonsheri, Kharadi and Hadapsar would
be cut off on Saturday (October 8) due to sudden power supply problem in NCW.

Against this background, the MSEDCL has issued a statement on Saturday. It had said that NCW is supplied power by an express feeder under Rasta Peth electricity division. A 22 kV power line of MSEDCL failed on October 6 due as one transformer in the NCW became dysfunctional.

The power utility said that the PMC had requested that testing of 22 kV power line should not be done until the dysfunctional transformer is repaired. The civic body asked the utility to restore power supply on October 7 at 9.18 pm after the transformer was repaired. Accordingly, the power supply was restored.
