Mozambique defence minister impressed by NDA

Mozambique defence minister Filipe Jacinto Nyussi led a high power delegation from his country to the National Defence Academy (NDA) recently. It was received by Lt Gen Jatinder Singh, NDA commandant.

The entourage consisted of Rear Admiral Lazaro Lopes Menete, commander of the navy; Colonel Cristovao Artur Chume, national director of defence policy in the ministry of defence; Colonel Mateus Tobias Nkanballole, chief engineer of the air force; Lt Col Elias Paulo Matarcuca and others.

The delegation evinced keen interest in the functioning of the academy. The NDA has the distinction of training nationals from 23 countries. The delegation was taken on a tour of the campus and was shown the training facilities. The delegation was impressed with the methodology of training being imparted to the cadets.

67 engineer officers graduate

Sixty-seven officers, including two from Sri Lanka, were awarded BTech degree at the graduation ceremony held at the Sarvatra Hall of the College of Military Engineering (CME), Pune.

The ceremony was held on June 24 in the presence of Major General Jatinder Sikand, dean and deputy commandant of CME. The prestigious gold medals for standing first were awarded to Major Udit Bhasker (civil engineering), Major DJ Singh (electrical engineering) and Lt Arnav Bahuguna (mechanical engineering).
