“I too want to go to god”. This is what baby Moshe says when he is told by his grandparents that his parents are with god.

“Everytime I tell Moshe that his parents are with god, he says he too wants to go to god,” said Rabbi Shimon Rosenberg, Moshe’s maternal grandfather.

Moshe saw his parents die during the 26/11 attack in Nariman House. He was then two years old. “Moshe remembers everything and he keeps on talking about it. For days he was not able to sleep after the incident,” said Rabbi Nachman Holtzberg, the child’s paternal grandfather. “He still feels that he belongs to Mumbai and keeps on repeating ‘My home is Mumbai’.”

The grand parents will be bring the child soon to Mumbai. “Moshe keeps on talking about Mumbai. We will bring him here soon,” said Holtzberg. Moshe has began attending kindergarten school. Once in their children Gavriel and Rivka’s (Moshe’s parents) home, all the memories come rushing back to the rabbis. “My heart stopped when I entered the house first; I started thinking about the happy moments I spent with my son and daughter-in-law here,” said Freida Holtzberg, mother of Gavriel.

“Even now I can see the death of my children in this house. Every room here gives me the horrendous feeling of the tortures my daughter must have gone through,” said Rosenberg. “No father can ever imagine in his wildest dream that his dear daughter can be tortured like this. But I saw it. I saw her dead body.”

Broken things of Rivka is the only emotional support of her father. “When I entered the house for first time, I collected the broken things that belonged to daughter which were lying about,” said Shimon.

The parents’ eyes filled with tears when they spoke about the condition in which the bodies of their children were found.“I don’t even want to think about the moment when we got the bodies of our children. I never imagined that I would see my children in that condition,” said Shimon.

Gavriel’s father wants to carry on the work his son was doing in the city. “I would love to complete the work of my son as my bond with this place is much stronger now,” said Nachman. “But this time we will be having strong security here to avoid any such incident again.”
