More toilets for women in Pune in 3 months

In a significant statement, municipal commissioner Mahesh Pathak has said that it was a myth that there is no space or funding for public toilets for women in the city.

Talking to media persons here recently, he said that although budgetary provisions for building public toilets for women had been made, the funds were not utilised by the Pune Municipal
Corporation (PMC).

Pathak said the PMC had called for 87 tenders to build public urinals and toilets for women in the city in various locations. Work totally valued at Rs4.38 crore has been commissioned and there is no problem with space for the purpose.

More than  270 seats in toilets and 152 seats in urinals for women would be built in the city within three months.
