Monsoon arrives in south Maharashtra

The cities of Pune and Mumbai are expected to be covered by the monsoon in the next 48 to 72 hours.

India Meteorological Department’s (IMD) director (weather forecasting), Medha Khole, told DNA that the monsoon had already reached Vengurla on the south Konkan coast and Kolhapur in south Maharashtra on Friday.

According to Khole, most parts of Maharashtra would be covered by the monsoon in the next 2 to 3 days. Khole said the monsoon had already covered the entire Karnataka coast, entire Goa and several parts of interior Karnataka.

According to Khole, Kerala and Karnataka had received heavy to very heavy rainfall in the last 24 hours and were expected to do so in the next few days.

“Most parts of peninsular India and North East India was receiving very good rainfall, while the rainfall in Northern India has reduced,” Khole said.
