The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) wants to make its presence felt in the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) — especially to the Shiv Sena.
The MNS is reportedly eyeing the Nationalist Congress Party’s bigger and better office space in the civic headquarters, also because it is close to the Sena’s office.
“Our present office space is very small for 28 corporators, of which 14 are women. They would need separate space when the civic body meetings extend for too long. I have written to the municipal secretary for a bigger party office,” said Mangesh Sangle, MNS leader in the municipal corporation. He is the outgoing MNS corporator.
Earlier, the MNS had only seven corporators in the municipal corporation.
The MNS leaders argue that Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has 31 corporators and have a bigger office, then why can’t they get more space when they have only three corporators less than the BJP.
But, there are speculations that the MNS might get Samajwadi Party’s office, which is next door to its existing office.
The collapsible walls can make way for a bigger space for the MNS and the nine Samajwadi Party corporators could be accommodated with the NCP by creating a partition in the latter’s existing office.
