The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) on Friday blamed home minister, RR Patil, for being unable to control the law and order situation in the city and asked him to resign.

MNS MLA Bala Nandgaonkar on Friday met commissioner of police Sanjeev Dayal, regarding the growing instances of theft and robbery. Reiterating the party’s anti-outsider stand he alleged that, the groups coming from outside are behind the increased cases of robbery.

“RR Patil does not have any hold on his department. He refuses to take any action against the tainted police officers. Patil should resign and go back to the ministry of rural development,” said Nandgaonkar.

MNS and the home ministry have locked horns against each other, ever since the party MLA from Kannad, Harshwardhan Jadhav suffered brutal beating at the hands of police officers.

The party has been demanding the government to suspend the accused police officers. Party chief Raj Thackeray in his rally in Aurangabad, few days ago had openly criticised deputy chief minister Ajit Pawar and home minister RR Patil for purposely beating the MLA.

“The situation is such that, the cars of Kalidas Kolambakar and Rajhans Singh, two of the Congress MLAs were robbed. I have met Patil before, but it was of no use, so I decided to meet Dayal instead. I hope he will take necessary action,” he added.

Nandgaonkar also submitted a list of recent cases of robberies to the commissioner and asked him to take action in the matter with utmost importance.
