A scrap dealer’s family in Goregaon has alleged that police didn’t take action in tracing the head of the family who went missing in September last year with Rs5 lakh. They now fear that he must have been murdered by his father’s business partner.

The two sons of 45-year-old Mohammad Jameel Khan have been gathering clues to find their father.

“We believe that our father’s business partners in scrap dealing — Mustafa and Rakabulla — are behind his disappearance since he was planning to discontinue business with them. Recently, Rakabulla threatened that if we take the matter further, I would not be found anywhere,” said Khan’s son Raziuddin.

The family had written a letter to the police commissioner expressing dissatisfaction with the local police’s inaction in the case. They are now planning to move the court.

“The day our father went missing, he was carrying Rs5.8 lakh. But when we went to lodge a complaint, the Goregaon police asked us to lodge a simple missing complaint, saying if you mention the amount it may complicate the matter. After almost a year, there is no-headway in their investigation,” said Raziuddin.

He said that the police even didn’t detain the suspected business partners.

The family having checked the phone details of Khan found out that the last call he received was from a PCO in Kurar.

“He was seen last having tea with Rakabulla and Mustafa. They left ahead of him and we suspect he was called to Kurar bridge by them,”he added.

We have given all the evidence to the police but they are indifferent. And now that our life in under threat, we better move to court without delay,” said Raziuddin.
