A Class X Vasai girl who has been missing from Andheri railway station since last Wednesday after her last exam question paper, was finally traced by the Government Railway Police at her colleague’s house at Andheri (East) on Friday evening.

The girl Poornima Sharma (name changed), 16, was handed over to her parents on Friday night, said Senior Police Inspector Tukaram Shinde of  Andheri railway police station. He added that during the preliminary investigation, the teenager revealed that she did for 'fun'.

The girl who originally stayed with her family in  Andheri (East) had recently shifted with her parents to Vasai but continued to commute daily to RC Maruti High School near her former home.

Her examination centre also happened to be in Andheri (East).
On Wednesday when the girl didn’t reach Vasai by evening after her exams her worried parents approached the Andheri railway police station.

During the preliminary investigation, the police found that the girl’s family had not received any ransom calls and they suspected that the girl had run away on her own.

The police then collected the victim’s call details from the service-providing company.  When contacted one of  the girl’s colleagues revealed that the girl was at another colleague’s house  after which the police team rushed to the spot and traced her there.
