"In connection with the investigation relating to the Adarsh Cooperative Housing Society, Mumbai, the Union ministry of environment & forests (MOEF) and other central and state government departments are co-operating on all issues, and re-structuring documents/files which may not be readily available with them," a CBI statement said.
The agency officials had yesterday said that some more files pertaining to the controversial housing society were missing from the MOEF.
"Files which include letters issued by the environment ministry to the state government regarding Coastal Regulation Zone norms, and asking the society to approach the appropriate state government department for clearance, have gone missing," a CBI official had said.
The CBI had registered a case on January 29 against 13 accused belonging to army, Defence Estate Office (DEO), government of Maharashtra, public servants and unknown persons in connection with the Adarsh Housing Society investigation.
The agency had earlier registered a case on the direction of Bombay high court in which some crucial documents were found missing.
"Another case relating to a missing file was also registered wherein the note sheet of the file belonging to the urban development department of Maharashtra government was found missing. In this case, arrests were also made to trace the documents and identify the culprit who had removed the note sheet from the file," the statement said.
However, the CBI spokesperson clarified that no case has been registered in the incident of missing files reported yesterday saying that "further investigation (in the case) is continuing".
Reacting to the incident, environment minister Jairam Ramesh had said that his ministry was reconstructing all the documents needed by the CBI in the probe.
