Good news, the mercury will soon be done yo-yoing. But you will have to wait for two days more before the weather 'settles down'. After experiencing below normal temperatures in the last two days, the city saw the mercury rise to the normal level on Sunday.

The weathermen, however, say the maximum temperature on Monday might increase by 2°C.

On Sunday, the Colaba weather station recorded maximum and minimum temperatures of 30.7°C and 21.3°C, respectively, while Santa Cruz recorded maximum and minimum temperatures of 31.6°C and 19.0°C, respectively. The normal maximum temperatures during this period at Santa Cruz and Colaba are 32°C and 30°C, respectively.

"The temperature is likely to increase by 2°C on Monday, as the wind direction might change due to western disturbances in northern Pakistan and Jammu and Kashmir," said Ajay Kumar, a Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) official. The sea breeze is not likely to set off on time, leading to an increase of 2°C in the maximum temperature.

"After two days, the temperature will come back to the normal range," said another  IMD official.
