A Mumbai-bound Jet Airways flight from London (9W-119) carrying 295 passengers and 15 crew was diverted to Budapest in Hungary today following a medical emergency after a passenger suffered a cardiac arrest.
"On advise from MEDAIR, (an agency that provides medical assistance for airline customers) which was contacted via SAT phone, it was decided that the passenger needed emergency medical assistance and the flight was diverted to Budapest, the nearest airport," a Jet Airways spokesperson told PTI here.
The airline had entered into a contract with MEDAIR, for dealing with such emergencies, the spokesperson said. The ailing passenger is now undergoing treatment and the flight is expected to land in Mumbai at 2 am (local time), the airline said.
This is the second time in the last one week that a Jet Airways flight has been diverted to Budapest. On October 4, its Mumbai-bound flight from Brussels was also diverted to Budapest, after a technical snag was detected.
