A PIL on Thursday alleged that a plot in Chembur, originally meant for poor and needy widows, has been taken over by the married women managers of Mahila Samaj Seva Kendra.

A division bench of chief justice Mohit Shah and justice SJ Kathawalla was hearing a petition filed by advocate Gajanan Divekar alleging that the 686 sq metre plot was allotted without following the due process of law.

“Members of the said society have transferred some shops to third parties and violated government’s terms and conditions,” the petition stated. The judges directed the collector to submit records related to the plot and adjourned the matter to December 3.
