A group of 5-7 youngsters in Nehru Nagar, Kurla, recently put up posters in the locality urging people to join their organisation. However, nobody expected what followed on Tuesday night.

A group of 25-30 members belonging to the Samadhan Association Welfare Foundation Committee (SAWFC) barged into a house in Nehru Nagar and started beating up the men while armed with choppers, swords, cricket bats, bottles and knives.

The mob singled out Anwar Khan and cut one of his fingers with a sword. It was later discovered that Khan was involved in an instance of road rage earlier in the day, with a person who is believed to be a member of SAWFC. “Khan reportedly cut off the member’s finger. That is why his finger was cut off,” said a source. “It was a gruesome display of jungle raj by SAWFC members,” added an eyewitness.

The injured have been admitted to Sion hospital. Nehru Nagar police have booked ten people under section 326 of Indian Penal Code (IPC). However the injured have also been booked under the same section. “We are still trying to figure out how my family can be booked under the same section after we were assaulted and our property damaged,” said Saeed Ali Mohammaed, a family member who was beaten up.

Preliminary investigation has revealed that the organisation was started 5-6 months ago it currently has 50-55 members. Interestingly, immediately after the incident, all SAWFC posters in the area were removed by unidentified people. Meanwhile, the police have launched a manhunt for the suspects.
