Man tries to set tehsildar on fire, held

In an incident similar to the attack on Malegaon’s additional district collector Yashwant Sonawane, a person tried to set ablaze Santosh Shinde, tehsildar of Wada taluka, on Monday. The Wada police said a local named Mukesh Swami approached Shinde while he was walking towards his car outside his office.

He asked the tehsildar about the action taken against Neroli’s Carol petroleum company. After Shinde told him to see the papers the next day as he was in a hurry, Swami left from the spot only to return with an oil can. He poured oil on Shinde, but the tehsildar managed to escape before he could have been set on fire.

“I am lucky to have escaped. But I am experiencing some vision problems,” Shinde said. Swami has been arrested.
