The Santacruz police on Saturday cracked the murder case in which the body of a Yari Road-based developer was found inside his Honda City car last month.

The police suspect that the deceased died of overdose of aphrodisiacs and cocaine.

“Investigations are on and revealing anything at this stage would be premature” said senior police inspector Madhukar Chaudhari of Santacruz police station.

However, police sources reveal that Sarfaraz Khan, 35, was dumped in the car by one of his childhood friends, who panicked after his sudden death. Based on the mobile phone location, the police confronted the accused Sudhir Panesar, who later confessed to the crime.

The police records claim that Khan was missing at least three days prior to the discovery of his decomposed body at Sarojini Nagar in Santacruz.

The police went through Khan’s telephone records of Khan and realised that Panesar was with him on the day he died. The police said, that though Panesar initially denied having been with Khan on that day, he broke down on sustained interrogation and later confessed to his crime.

Panesar told the police that on January 21, he along with Khan booked a room at a plush Bandra hotel and hired two call girls. He added that they both consumed aphrodisiacs and cocaine around that time.

Khan, however, had an overdose of the substances and fainted in the room. Panesar and the call girls panicked when they saw Khan palpating. The call girls helped Panesar put Khan inside his car to rush him to a hospital.

But Panesar, fearful of being caught by the police, dumped Khan and his car at an isolated location in Santacruz. Pansesar fled from the spot in an autorickshow and left the city for Goa.
