The DB Marg police arrested a 33-year-old Surat resident for allegedly duping several diamond traders to the tune of Rs1.15 crore. The arrested person has been identified as Aimin Himmatbhai Vora alias Shah.

According to the police said diamond trader Rameshbhai Sutaria handed them a written complaint against Vora on October 3. "Vora had genuine business deals with Sutaria initially, but in September, he took diamonds worth Rs40.63 lakh from him in September to show them to customers. These were later untraceable. On inquiring with others in the Pancharatna diamond market, he learnt that Vora had allegedly duped four other traders too," a police officer said.

The other four had also given written complaints. "We had received information that he was hiding in Dhar in Madhya Pradesh. A team caught him from there on November 15," the officer said.
