A conman duped a retired school principal and two of his colleagues of Rs3.50 lakh by promising their children jobs in Air India and the petroleum ministry as cabin crew members and clerks.

In his complaint, Srirang Waghmare, 59, former principal of Mahim-based Saraswati Mandir High School, said that he met Krishna Patil alias Wagh, 30, through his family friends on May 17, 2010. Later, they became good friends.

One day, Waghmare told Wagh that his son Tushar who had studied up to Class XII, needed a decent job. Wagh promised his friend that he would give him a job of a crew member in Air India but he needed Rs3 lakh for security deposit, travelling expenses and to bribe top officials.

Waghmare assured him that he would pay the amount. Waghamare narrated about this job opportunity for his son to his colleagues Bhimrao Buddhidant and Mahadeo Ghadge.

They also approached Wagh for jobs and were promised jobs in the petroleum ministry.

Wagh once took Tushar, Waghmare’s son, to Delhi for the job, said a sub-inspector of Mahim police station. Waghmare, Ghadge and Buddhidant gave Wagh Rs2.85 lakh, 46,000 and 20,000 to Wagh.

Once he got the money, Wagh stopped picking up their calls. Realising that they were cheated, they lodged a complaint of against Wagh on Saturday, said the complainants.
